Swimming pool water is prone to bacterial and algal growth in hot seasons. If residual chlorine is not properly controlled, problems such as green water, turbidity and odor can occur. TCCA effervescent tablets are among the more commonly used agents for daily disinfection and emergency treatment of pools because they dissolve quickly and are easy to dose. This article briefly describes their practical application.
Calculate the dosage based on pool volume and current residual chlorine level, then place the tablets into the pool water or a dosing device (feeder, floating dispenser) as required. Test residual chlorine and pH regularly. Residual chlorine is generally recommended to stay within the range of 0.3 – 1.0 mg/L (subject to local sanitary standards and pool management regulations), and the dosage should be adjusted accordingly.
When residual chlorine is found to be low and the water begins to turn green, effervescent tablets can rapidly replenish available chlorine and bring residual chlorine back up within a short time. After dosing, circulate the water thoroughly and re-test the residual chlorine concentration to confirm it meets requirements.
In summer, strong sunlight accelerates algae reproduction. In addition to maintaining residual chlorine, algicides can be used together with regular brushing of pool walls and floor to reduce algae attachment. For pools with obvious green algae, a shock treatment is recommended first, followed by routine maintenance once water quality is restored.
With proper dosing and regular testing, TCCA effervescent tablets can work effectively with the pool's circulation and filtration system to keep the water clear and hygienic.
